Training

Land use decisions are often made by elected or appointed officials with little or no background in the law and procedures that impact land use decision-making. These individuals may be part of a City Council, Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, Zoning Board, Design Review Board or any other number of boards and commissions established by local government to make land use decisions. Too often, these individuals receive no information on their exposure to liability for an improper land use decision and no training on how to make a land use decision in the proper way.

We provide training sessions on how to make land use decisions in a manner consistent with the law of procedural due process. This training will reduce liability exposure for the individual that receives it as well as for the local government that he or she serves. The training does not tell anyone what decision to make; it merely shows you how you must make it to avoid liability.

The training we offer draws on over 50 years of combined expertise and on thousands of land use decisions made by us for local governments. We would like to provide our insights and expertise to you, wherever you are. Please contact us for more information on our training programs.
